Peer review procedure

Waxmann Publishing Co. is an international academic publishing house that specializes in publishing high‐quality articles and booksfrom the humanities, culturalstudies and socialsciences. All manuscripts submitted to us undergo a thorough in‐house and/or external review process depending on the type of publication.

Initial criteria are the suitability to the publishing programme, the scientific relevance and scientific quality of the text as well as formal requirements (for example style, orthography, foreign‐language‐ check).

If the initial check is positive, the appropriate Waxmann editor with the necessary academic background initiates the further review process:

For each manuscript, at least one expertise is made and if we consider it necessary external evaluations are obtained. If the text is suited for a series, it will be submitted to the series editor. Publications in journals and series are forwarded to the responsible editors of the journal/series and undergo the review process installed by the editors.

For dissertations and habilitations, we consider the evaluation reports of professors reviewing the papers according to the standards of the relevant examination regulation.

We put a very high value on the quality of our products regarding the content, formal standards as well as scientific publication ethics and guarantee this by relying on internal and external experts from the field in question.
